How does the half-life calculation work?
The model multiplies the starting caffeine amount by one half raised to the elapsed time divided by the selected half-life. With a five-hour half-life, 200 mg becomes a modeled 100 mg after five hours and 50 mg after ten hours. These are estimates of a remaining amount, not a measured blood concentration. Changing the half-life changes the entire curve, including the bedtime estimate.
Is 25 mg at bedtime a proven safe threshold?
No. The cutoff uses 25 mg as an interface planning assumption. It is not a universal medical threshold and cannot predict whether you will sleep well. People differ in sensitivity, metabolism and sleep habits. A lower modeled amount does not establish safety, and a higher amount does not diagnose a sleep disorder. Avoid interpreting the colored result badge as a clinical assessment.
Does this include all the caffeine I consume during a day?
No. The current interface models one selected serving. Earlier coffee, tea, energy drinks, chocolate, supplements or medicines can add to your total exposure. Preset beverage amounts are approximate because brand, preparation and serving size differ. Check a product label when available and do not treat the single-serving curve as a complete daily-intake log or a recommendation to take another serving.
Why might my response differ from the calculated curve?
The half-life parameter simplifies a process that varies between individuals and circumstances. Medicines, pregnancy, health conditions and other factors can change the response to caffeine. The tool does not collect the information needed to assess those factors.
